Volkswagen ID.8
Hold onto your seats, because Volkswagen has some exciting news that is going to blow your mind!
Get ready to meet the latest addition to the electric-vehicle family, the Volkswagen ID.8 — a three-row SUV that will change the game in the world of electric vehicles.
While we haven't seen any images of the ID.8 yet, we know for a fact that this family-friendly SUV is going to be a showstopper.
The ID.8 will be much larger than its predecessor, the ID.4.
It will have three rows of seats and will comfortably seat up to seven riders — the perfect vehicle for families on the go.
But that's not all…
The ID.8 is expected to share styling with its slightly smaller cousin, the ID.6, which was unveiled for the Chinese market.
The car will likely come standard with rear-wheel drive, but a dual-motor.
All-wheel-drive arrangement will probably be optional.
Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room: The battery.
While it's currently unclear how big of a battery Volkswagen will offer in the ID.8, we do know that in China, buyers of the smaller ID.6 can choose either a 58.0- or 77.0-kWh pack, with a maximum driving range of up to 365 miles.
That's pretty impressive, don't you think?

Volkswagen T7
It's time to get excited, folks! Volkswagen has just unveiled the seventh generation of their iconic van, the T7 Multivan, and it's a true marvel.
As part of VW's van series, which includes the commercial-focused Transporter and the amazing California camper models, the Multivan is all about comfort and people.
The T7 boasts a sleek, futuristic design, with a quarter window at the A-pillar, a retro color split, and a chrome strip accentuating the chamfered cutline.
The body sides are smoother and more intricate than on the old model, making it longer, lower, wider, and more aerodynamic.
The interior is where the T7 truly shines, though.
With a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 10-inch touchscreen, the dashboard resembles the new Golf, augmented by touch-capacitive buttons.
The second-row captain's chairs swivel 180 degrees, and up to seven seats are available.
The center console is height-adjustable and can slide between all three rows, complete with cupholders, storage compartments, and fold-out tray tables.
Plus, the whole thing is removable!
Powered by a range of gas and diesel engines, the T7 is the first VW van to feature a plug-in-hybrid powertrain.
With a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four, an electric motor, and a 13-kWh battery pack, the PHEV outputs 215 horsepower and provides enough EV range for short urban trips.
Safety features like adaptive cruise control and automated emergency braking make driving the T7 even more secure.
Unfortunately, the T7 won't be available in the US due to the 25% tariff on light trucks, but VW plans to release the ID Buzz, an all-electric superretro van inspired by the T7, in 2023.
All in all, the T7 Multivan is an impressive vehicle that's sure to turn heads and make waves in the automotive industry.
Electric Volkswagen Golf — ID.Golf
Volkswagen has big plans for its electric vehicles, with the ID.3 getting a major upgrade and the iconic Golf potentially getting an all-electric version after the combustion engines cease production.
Thomas Schäfer, Volkswagen's brand boss, revealed in an interview with Auto Express that the Golf name could continue on an EV after the combustion-engined versions are phased out around 2025 or 2026.
Despite the popularity of the Polo, Schäfer revealed that it may not continue after the current model, while the Golf name is definitely staying.
To keep costs down, VW is investing in its MEB all-electric platform, which is expected to receive the firm's upcoming "unified battery cells" and be able to charge at more than 200kW.
This would help VW compete against other EVs and save costs, while also allowing for electrified performance vehicles.
VW has big plans for its iconic brand names, such as Golf and GTI, and Schäfer said that the GTI name will likely be used for electrified performance vehicles.
The GTX badge, introduced recently, may not continue in the future.
Our exclusive images show how VW could use the Golf styling cues and transpose them onto an all-electric vehicle based on the ID.3's MEB platform.
With the ID. already a well-known logo for electrification and the connection between Volkswagen and ID. already established, Schäfer said that there was no need to cancel or redo it.
He also stressed the importance of keeping iconic brand names like Golf and GTI, which have a strong following.
Schäfer's comments suggest that VW is committed to transitioning to an all-electric future while keeping its iconic models alive.
Electric Volkswagen Golf — ID.Tiguan
During a works council meeting at Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg headquarters, the company announced some exciting news that had Chancellor Olaf Scholz in attendance.
The automaker revealed that a new electric model will be built at the factory in 2026, which will be similar in size and style to the popular Tiguan SUV, according to a spokesperson.
The electric Tiguan will be based on VW's improved MEB-Plus platform.
This news comes on the heels of insiders hinting that VW has completely redesigned its ID.2 model and may name it the ID.Golf.
At the LA Auto show last year, Thomas Schäfer, CEO of VW passenger cars, stated that the automaker has iconic brand names that will carry over to the electric age.
VW confirms that the Golf, GTI, and Tiguan will be converted to electric, and many customers have requested it.
Although CEO Oliver Blume didn’t share any additional details, the electric Tiguan is likely to be called the ID.Tiguan and will play a critical role in VW's strategy until its flagship Trinity EV goes into production.
Originally scheduled to launch in 2026, Trinity has been delayed due to software issues.
However, despite this, new CEO Blume expects the project to come online by the end of the decade.
In the meantime, the electric Tiguan is set to fill the gap, launching in 2026 instead.
Daniela Cavallo, head of the works council, stated, "we have now closed the gap that will arise in 2026." VW will use its Wolfsburg plant, which is not being fully utilized due to chip shortages, to electrify one of its most popular brand names to boost production and sales.
The upcoming ID.Tiguan is not just a rebranding of the existing model, but it will ride on the VW Group's upcoming MEB-Plus architecture.
Although it will have roughly the same size as the ICE-powered Tiguan, it will likely have a more spacious interior thanks to the dedicated EV underpinnings that maximize wheelbase and shorten overhangs.
Volkswagen Hybrids
Volkswagen Tiguan Hybrid — The VW Tiguan eHybrid
Volkswagen's first plug-in hybrid Tiguan, has been launched as part of its electrification drive.
The hybrid drivetrain is an option available across the range, which makes cheaper models popular for company cars.
Private buyers who want to reduce running costs and can park and charge the Tiguan eHybrid will benefit from this.
It has a smooth 1.4-litre TSI gas engine coupled with an electric motor and 13 kWh battery pack, and a six-speed DSG transmission.
The Tiguan eHybrid has a top speed of 204 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 7.5 seconds.
The battery pack is positioned under the rear seats to optimize weight distribution, and the Tiguan eHybrid has a range of up to 48 km, fuel economy of 1.6 L/100 km, and CO2 output of 38 g/km.
The upgraded sat-nav helps it figure out where it should deploy its electrical power to best use.
There is one downside: the fuel tank eats up 137 liters of boot capacity, but the flat floor remains.
The Tiguan eHybrid has enough thrust from the electric motor and the gas engine kicks in quietly and seamlessly, making it one of the most refined SUVs driven in a long time.
